The Story

Why we do this

Dan's grandfather passed away from loneliness. To honor him, Dan and Kim started this show to get people hanging out again, even on a weeknight.

In the spirit of real connection, we wear name tags, do ice breakers instead of crowd work, and build community throughout the year. It's the kind of room your friends keep telling you about.

We started in a backyard. We're still that show, just with a few more chairs, a rotating cast of working comics, and a mailing list that sells the room out before anyone advertises a thing.

Name tags

Yes, you're wearing one. It works.

Ice breakers

Instead of crowd work. You'll meet someone.

Where we've taken it

Past Shows

We started in a backyard with twenty folding chairs. Since then we've kept that show going monthly, and stretched the format a few times when the moment called for it.

The home base

The Backyard

Monthly, by the string lights, picnic chairs in the grass. Where the whole thing started and where it still happens.

Larchmont Blvd

300+ on the Boulevard

We took the show to Larchmont Blvd for a one-night block party with over 300 neighbors in the crowd.

A monthly show built to get people hanging out again. We showcase professional comedians across stand-up, character, improv, and musical comedy, keep ticket prices low, and put the emphasis on human connection.

Yep. Same show, same backyard, new name. We're now the Larchmont Comedy Series (formerly Backyard Comedy Series), named for the neighborhood the show is built around. Getting neighbors in this corner of LA out of their houses is the whole point.
